WHAT IS A BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTION (commonly referred to as Botox)?
A muscle relaxant which is injected in tiny amounts into muscles.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
A Botulinum Toxin Injection partially blocks the nerve impulses to muscles, so the muscle relaxes, and thereby the skin gets a chance to rest and dynamic wrinkles (caused by muscle contraction) are softened / eliminated.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Infection at the proposed injection site
- Myasthenia gravis/muscle disease
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO A BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTION?
The effect lasts on average 3-4 months, but this may vary with muscle mass, metabolism and specific areas treated.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Botulinum Toxin Injections start working in 3-7 days time, with visible results (improvement in lines) in 14-21 days time.
COMBINATION TREATMENT
Botulinum Toxin Injections can safely be combined with Fillers (even in the same session), chemical peels and mesotherapy (preferably during different sessions) for great results. The best, and most natural results are seen when combination therapy is used to treat the face as a whole.
